At the Living to Serve Foundation, we are dedicated to addressing the critical needs of women facing health challenges, with a particular focus on breast cancer awareness and survivorship. We believe that no woman should have to navigate her health journey alone, and we are here to provide both the resources and the community support necessary for empowerment.
Breast Cancer Awareness and Survivorship: We work tirelessly to raise awareness about breast cancer, especially in communities of color, where women face higher mortality rates and are more likely to be diagnosed with aggressive forms of the disease. Our foundation offers support for women at every stage of their journey—from diagnosis to survivorship.
Financial Resources: Many women in our community face financial barriers to accessing care. We provide assistance to ensure that essential health screenings and treatments are within reach, regardless of a woman’s financial situation.
Patient Education: We believe that knowledge is power. We educate women about early detection, treatment options, and how to advocate for themselves within the healthcare system.
Community Outreach: Our commitment extends beyond the clinic and into the community. We work with women in area jails, ensuring that they have access to the healthcare information and screenings they need, and we bring awareness to underserved populations that may not have easy access to traditional medical services.
Mammogram Funding: One of our cornerstone initiatives is funding mammograms for women who cannot afford them. To date, we have funded over 500 mammograms, helping women receive early and potentially life-saving screenings. The Living to Serve Grant through Carle Health funds no-cost mammograms for under-insured and uninsured women.
Sisters Rock Annual Health Awareness Fair: This signature event brings together healthcare providers, community leaders, and women from all walks of life to engage in health education, wellness activities, and resource sharing. Sister’s Rock is a celebration of health, resilience, and sisterhood.
Incarcerated Women Outreach: Living to Serve Foundation partners with area jails to offer health education resources and return-to-society support to incarcerated women. It is our belief that we are all one poor decision away from being incarcerated and that everyone deserves options to support their health and loved ones.
Our partnerships with Carle Health and OSF St. Francis hospitals have been instrumental in delivering these programs and ensuring that the women in our community have access to high-quality care.
We are constantly striving to expand our outreach and impact, and we know there are countless more women we can reach. While we continue to fund essential programs and advocate for women’s health, we are also exploring new ways to address the specific needs of minority women in our community.
Even with a terminal disease (Ronda now thrives with stage 4 breast cancer) you can still LIVE. Yes, there are moments of fear and anxiety, but there are so many more moments to be thankful for. Your quality of life comes first, make decisions that empower you to get out and
LIVE OUT LOUD!
